Update!! I have them painted and decaled and I am now working on detailing the truck sideframes. Here are some shots of them in primer and then painted/decaled. As you can see I painted one in full Minnesota International paint while the other got patched. Primed

I am assuming this is one of the units your modeling?

Mark, Yes, those are the units that I am replicating. 3209 used to be the 5499 and 3208 the 5498.

Those are looking really good. I'd like to see a pic with the truck sideframes on.

Hey for posting this one as pretty much a how-to. Whenever I finish my current projects, I might try copying what you did.
Is there an unspoken rule against copying what someone did for your own work around here?

I don't think there is any rule about copying someone else's build. You should be alright but it might not hurt to ask the builder if you are planning on modeling his/her personal railroad. Otherwise the engine itself shouldn't be a problem.

Amazing work here! How long did it take you to complete the locos from the moment you decided to do this project? Just curious, my recent project took me about 1,5 years (with about 1 year pause in between total frustration to a new hope (I know, it sounds like Star Wars ...)
