Hey guys, I could use a couple of recommendations here...
1) I need to find after market classification lights. 2) The round plates which are bolted on front of the short hood. 3) Perhaps a constant lighting kit. (Not sure I'm going to light it up or not yet)
Thanks for any help.

DA offers class lights for 1st gen GP/SD units - the angled ones that mount near the top of the angled faces of the hood ends. They also have a clear part that can be used to replace existing class lights on later units like the GP30 and later used.
Cannon has the class light covers (with bolt details) in the nose kits
Are you DC or DCC? I have a couple DC kits from a company that allow you to have constant lighting and a really nice beacon. Shoot me a PM if interested.
Regards, Brian

Bob that looks great! I cant wait to see it painted. Your making me want to do another SD10, even though its a bit of a stretch for my modeling era. Definately a neat proto-type!

Thanks for the info, Brian. I'll check it out. Thanks, Mike. I started painting/weathering process last night. I should get to work on it this evening too.

Patty had class tonight so I got some good modeling time in! (she's working on her masters degree) Tonight was all about paint. So, here is my painting for this evening. Then nice thing about painting your own models, is you can paint it according to the final vision of how the unit will look. In the case of this SD10, it will be very faded. The Milwaukee orange faded in many different ways and patterns. In my area of interst, the harsh Montana elements took a heavy toll and that is why my models are weathered as they are. Faded, dusty, and ill maintained. I hope you enjoy this little progress report . Thanks for looking. -Bob

Thanks Sarge! These units got very faded between shop time. And of course, in the later days of the Milwaukee before they embargoed the Pacific Extension, there was only critical maintenance to keep them running, and even that is questionable.

Spent the last several days learning to rebuild the low hood. I wasn't happy with the way it turned out with the original SD7 sides, so... I've moved along on the build and will post something when I get the photos together.

Yep. I'll do this on any future chop nose projects as well. I was using 1mm styrene because I had it on hand. However, 2mm would have worked better I think.

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of updates. Here's a sneak peak at, "The Tens." Of course, they are still "in process" so don't tear me up to badly here. I would like to hear thoughts and and opinions. I have NOT started weathering the frames and trucks yet. Thanks for looking.

Thanks Peir! It has taken me a few months to get the hang of working the orange paint to a realistic fade/wash.

Those "10"s are looking great, nice in process shots. The fade lookes great, I am going to try that when I finally get around to getting my GP30s in red.

Bob,
Back on page one, (sorry, just catching up here.) In the shot of the front pilot, where did those MU and trainline hoses come from? I'm just not pleased with the DA ones I have.

Thanks guys! Slow progress of late. Our daughter was born 2 weeks ago today and its been a bit busy since... Yardduty, the MU line are the stock ones that came on the model. The trainline hose is from Cal Scale.
