Here is a picture of a wreck rebuild that my proto-freelanced railroad just purchased from Stephens Rail Car.. Its a Athearn SD45T-2 body and an Athearn SD60M cab, still needs an anti-climber,plus all the usual KP details added.. More to come later...

It looks like an interesting combination. Can't wait to see this finished.

There was one of these actual units built by EMD built to test their SD70 cab and anticlimber design. They crashed it too. there's video of it on youtube. I'd find it for you, but my work PC blocks Youtube.

I got the idea from that video and pics of that engine on the web. Like usual I need a few parts to order before I can finish but hopefully real soon.

The music wasn't my choice...but at least there's a lot of crash test footage.

I really like the looks of this unit and it seems like a good way to put some of the old school EMD Tunnel Motor units back in service with all the up grades and safety features. Now if more people would watch the crash test video I would like to think more would think twice about running the gates!
The music wasn't that bad I was expecting worse when you mentioned it.
Great video and a sweet looking project.

Ok I have stopped the original project and started the new rebuild. I had originally installed the DA SD60 exhaust silencer in place of the original exhaust stack and the horn towards the rear by the radiator. Well when I decided to build the LEO engine I had to remove those and place them in different locations. I also rebuild the exhaust stack to look something like the stack on the ATSF SD45-2CAT. For the stack I cut out the raised stack inside the silencer and I used K&S brass 4MMX45MM square tube #9852 for the new stacks(I just eyeballed the height).I also took a scrap piece of .005 brass sheet and placed that inbetween the two stacks to cover the opening in the middle. I took another piece of the .005 brass sheet and made a plate to cover where the original stack was.I used an extra DA SD60 silencer and the back of a #11 blade to trace the diminsions on the brass and used small scissors to cut it out. Here you see the exhaust stack in place and a small plate covering where the horn was.. I need to order some C&C radiator doors for use on the cabinet behind the conductors side of the cab,I removed the blower housing to make room for the cabinet. Well that is as far as I have gotten today,so keep watching for more to come..

Looking good so far. I like the backstory to the rebuild, very believable. I might have to contract the KPRR to build some for the CMW
