Inspired by jbakoo´s BQ23 project i decided to start my own. This is an Atlas B23-7 shell equipped with a Bachmann BQ23 cab. The BQ cab was a bit too wide, so i made a cut like in the other thread mentioned. I added several grab irons and handrails and just wait for class lights and a new headlight. I will paint it in the original Family Lines grey

That has to be the ugliest engine I have ever seen (prototype)but you are doing a great job on it so far...

Awesome work! I need to get working on my two, doesn't look like I'll have them ready fro WPM though.
Might I ask, how'd you do the back of the cab on yours?

Its the original Bachmann with doors. I just cut out enough room for the hood. It fits good...

Nice job!!! Question, how hard are the shells to come by from Bachman? never tried and I really don't want to build one but if they are scarce I wonder if that shell that was made some time back for the Black Mesa & Lake Powell electrics, I can't even remember who made that one either but it was I believe mated with an Athearn RTR U33C frame, the shell was fairly thin and the cab profile reminded me of this, if that could be another source for someone and if its the same profile, that might be another source to feed off of the only thing would have to be done is cut it of the car body and make rear doors for it? I know it's a lot of work and I might be full of crap if this would even work? but if someone could shed some light on this it might be an alternative cab source? As far as I can remember that was a no-go. Bachmann's are not "that hard" to come by (considering I came across 4...).

The E60CF-2 shell you are talking about was made first by American GK, later by Walthers. This model has three windows at the front, it doesn´t look like the BQ at all. See the picture below, that one out of three i have... I´m seriously thinking about taking another Bachmann BQ23 cab and using it to make a thinwall resin copy out of it. But i have to check that with a resin modeler and caster here at my town...

I´m almost done. Its missing its yellow handrails, some truck details and, thats my problem, windows. I don´t want to reuse the Bachmann glazing, maybe i cut windows out of clear styrene and install it with crystal clear...

You sure have done a nice job on it though. Are you planning on wethering it any or are you going to keep the fresh from the shop look? Either way keep us posted and post some pictures when its "done"
