Are you going to model the damage from the filter compartment fire while on MQT?

Haha, no I will not. Im modeling Greenville in the late 90s early 2000s so my 3839 will be how she appeared when she actually worked the Grand Rapids Eastern!

My Grande Valley Railway is based in Grand Rapids. If I could find the decals in N scale I would model this unit myself. Aside from that I think you've done a excellent job of modeling her.

Ok quick question, Ive applied the adhesion promoter onto the handrails and applied the first coat of red as well. I noticed I missed a few small spots on the handrails, so Im going to do a second coat. Do I need to coat it with the promoter as well? Also, would I have to apply some small dabs when I go to paint the white accents on the handrails?

Contact Jim at Highball Graphics. He made the set for HO, he could easily scale them down to N scale for you. Mark.

Also, would I have to apply some small dabs when I go to paint the white accents on the handrails? If you have some bare plastic showing, then you would need a touch of adhesion promoter so the paint will stick to the plastic. If I were you, instead of building up yet another layer of adhesion promoter and paint, I strip them off and start fresh. You can easily wash the paint off with laquer thinners - it won't hurt the delrin plastic. I usually wash them in laquer thinners first anyway to be certain there is no contaminants left on the casting. You won't need additional adhesion promoter for the white accents as the white will adhere to the red already down. Mark.
