Everyone, thanks for the compliments. I will post some pictures of the sub assemblies as soon as I get a chance. The model pretty much goes together like an Overland diesel, except that it's plastic.
If anyone is interested, I can do a step by step project on a Southern GP39X that I recently started.

It looks to good to want to paint it! What brand headlight and lift ring's are those? The headlight is a PSC part. The lift rings are Detail Associates (West?) part. I did another SD39, an SP version, back in 95. Wow, almost twenty years ago. Not too many parts available back then. It was featured in the Dec. 1999 issue of RMJ. I'll have to dust it off and take some pictures of it and post them here. It's amazing how much more we have in parts today, but it seems that we also have fewer modelers as well. Probably a result of all the RTR stuff these days. I may be wrong but that's what it seems like to me. I'm working on that Southern GP39X (GP49?) right now and will be posting that material soon. Chris Z Do you have the part number for the headlight housing? Its HO correct? The detail is alot better then the plastic DA ones i've used.

It's been a long time coming, but I finally got around to painting this thing. Here is an in progress picture. There's still a bit of work to do before it's finished. Chris

Chris, another work of art!!
Lyle
p.s. now I don't feel so bad with some of my projects sitting idle almost as long or longer than this appears to have taken. The GP35 you've seen hasn't been as long, but the U23C has been longer LOL
