Don't forget to switch out those sideframes, that style didn't last long on the prototype and most units came with the later style. You can probably retrofit a pair of Athearn sideframes, or purchase a set of Kato truck for the latest run of their C44's which have the correct sideframes.
Nice job, looking forward to seeing it finished.

No, Ill be keeping this one for myself... at least for a while. I plan on using BLI truck side frames from the AC6000s. I tested them out and theyll require very little work to get them to fit.

Oh, excellent. Are the BLI sideframes available as parts? I was planning on using Athearn sideframes on my Kato Dash 9's, but that's going to require a bit of work.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I got pretty bored this weekend so I was able to get a fair amount done on the engine. The first thing I did was replace the truck side frames. As I mentioned before, I used ones from the BLI AC6000. To make them fit you have to shave off about half of one of the sprues that connect it to the trucks and also widen one of the holes which the end of the wheel sticks into. I also got the wheels painted and installed a speed recorder. I also started applying some decals and painting some of the details. The black on the roof took me 3 tries. For some reason i had the hardest time getting it to stick to the resin... even with primer... I ended up having to add a few layers of clear coat directy to the plastic for it to stick. One queston.. does anyone know of a window set that will work for the 4 window cab?

I won't even show pictures of mine. It looks like a Tyco compared to that! Only thing I can notice that you may want to reconsider is the horn. I believe the 2507 has a K3H. Phenomenal as always,

That looks great Josh. I am an MLW and early EMD kind of guy but I'd run that on my layout when it's finished anyday.
I was wondering what you were planning on using for the CN red-orange paint? For my RS-18, I used TLT CN Red Orange #11. It is more of a match for their "1961" scheme but I found a good blend of 6 parts TLT to 1 part Testor's acrylic red. As common as CN is, it is very hard to find a good match for the red orange paint that they use.

Well I was finally able to get this thing off the work bench. I painted the handrails and did a bit of touch-up work and so for now its about done. Ill be installing a tsunami sound decoder whenever I get around to purchasing it. I recently aquired 3 new kaslo shops cabs w/ tons of detail parts so over the summer Ill be building a pair of BC Rail C44-9wls with the double ditchlights... Thanks to everyone who followed and commented on this build. I had a great time doing it a look forward to the next. Josh

Well I am super impessed for sure. All the work you did really paid off on that engine, and I am glad you decided to change out the anti-climber after all.The handrails really bring the engine to a fantastic close. I might even have to do one in the future as inpressed as I am with this build...
Did the glazing for the windows come with the kit?
