If you have the patience to order them, the largest size Plano lift rings are flat. They would probably look just like those if you just countersunk the bottom portion of the lift ring.

Jay - It turns out I'm slowly working on a GP60M as well. I following your build with lots of interest! I like what you've done so far. I'm taking notes and will apply much of what you've done to mine. Question though, when you showed the picture of the sideframe, where did you get the 'shock absorber' detail that goes from the sideframe to the bolster on the engineer's side?

Kevin, both Athearn trucks for the engineers side have the shock details as part of the molding. I was finally able to install the tsunami soundtraxx decoder and it turned out pretty cool. Unfortunatley not so much on the detailing recently since i need a couple more parts such as coupler cut bars and a few more. This is what the loco looks like now.

Overall I think you have done a good job. Once this is in a consist and runnin down the mainline it will be that much sweeter.

I have one suggestion for you.
Paint and weather the silver pickup strip behind the side frames. It will go a long way to blending all that area under the frame. Otherwise the bright silver pickup strip will stick out like a sore thumb.

I was not really happy with the result of my weathering, so i redid the tank, trucks and other areas i was not happy with. Now it looks much better imo. Thanks Brian for the tip, i will give it a try.

Sammy as soon as I learn to post photos I will get some of this GP60M up. It wont look as good as Jays though. I see you have found the infamous photo. Did you just add the flag in my left hand? I don't remember it. Mikie I guess I don't remember the elevator accident, but I will blame my conductor for that one since he doesn't get on the D.D. I do know that when I am running at Sammy's we do run like the prototype as in anything painted Green and black does take priority on the railroad at all times. Me and dispatcher John have a mutual understanding that is how the real railroads operate. Jay will you be adding some of the 500 class units to your railroad also? They look awesome green and black. I better leave on that note. Hoover out I live in tulsa it sounds like you guys have a great time. How can I get in on the party

Here is the website for next year's event. ldopsigmeet.tulsanmra.org/ The nicest part of this meet is it is open to the public. If you like to operate RR's prototypically or would like to learn more about it, this is YOUR weekend. The clinics are very helpful and you will meet a lot of RR modelers and operators. The ops sessions are topnotch and include some fine operating RR's. As far as Hoover is concerned, green and black, blue and black, he's kind of colorblind. He does have some nice red and silver ATSF stuff in the upstairs of his house. Cheers, Mikie
