Ha Ha Sammy, those pictures have long since been deleated from this forum. I am painting up some BN stuff to bring down there to replace some of that red and silver stuff. That will make the those trains you run have a higher priority so they wont be stuck in the sidings as long.
BNSF Jay you are doing a great job on the build also. I haven't worked on mine for a couple of weeks and I need to get it done for the poor guy. Hoover

Hey Vince, I am still doing some but mostly I am still building my MRL fleet. But Sammy was begging me to refresh his fleet of rolling stock so he wants me to paint him some BN stuff to replace his Santa Fe stuff. He has finally seen the light. I also heard that Santa Fe Mikie is needing some of my services to help out his fleet also. Just saying... Hoover

Jay,
I want to thank you for being a good sport and letting my ole buddy Hoover and I trade barbs on your thread that shows the progress on your handsome GP60M. I really hope you can share more photos when you are completed with the build.
The truth is that between Glenn, I, & SantaFe Mikie, we are all good friends and we all have a great time picking on each other. The last time those guys came for a visit, we ran trains on my layout for 3 hours and my sides were sore for 3 days afterwards because of all of the laughing I did.
But do not let Glenn fool you with his pro BN / anti ATSF propaganda……. He is truly mistaken in most of the things he says about his love for the BN and Monkeys Running Loose (MRL) railroad. He knows that down deep in his heart that pumps the Indian Red colored blood through his veins that his true love lies with the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe railroad. I know this to be a fact because when I visited his layout a few years ago, all his BN and MRL stuff was in his basement on the layout collecting dust while his ATSF stuff was displayed proudly on the main level of his home in custom built, sealed, dust proof Mahogany display cases complete with museum quality lighting. It was truly a thing of beauty….
Since he says those photos of him are gone from the forum, perhaps I should dig them out from my archives on my external hard drive and repost them…..

Hahaha this is hilarious, I want to hear more of your stories! Regarding the love for the ATSF, I have been a fan ever since I started model railroading back in the late 80s. I have gotten into modeling mostly BNSF more recently but deep inside my heart I'll always be a Santa Fe guy. Here's the lift rings:

Those lift tabs are made by Detail Associates #1104. Walthers 229-1104.
I would suggest also drilling out the lift tabs on the radiator fans. Add a little depth to them. From Anthony's photo links, it appears there are two lift tabs on the DB hatch as well.

Oh Sammy boy, you forgot that while I was at your house I erased those photos from your computer while you were getting those delicious cookies from your wife. The blood in my veins run blue just like the mighty MRL. BNSF Jay you have to understand that our friend Sammy is mighty good at the art of photo shop. If you look at his signature at the bottom of his post, those are actually all green and black that he photo shopped in the Santa Flush paint scheme. He also dresses up in his favorite BN green pants and shirts and leads the St. Patricks day parade there in Tulsa. All in all he is a blast to be around and his op sessions are something I look forward to each year. I am getting ready to program my GP60M build here in a little bit. I hope everything works good. Hey Jay, I like your project and the work you have done. What Sammy and Glenn so far have not noted is that when we operate at Sammy's, a good time is had by all. His eight man crews have several times contained 5-6 members of the DD. Lots of knowledge and certainly lots of appreciation for Sammy's fine layout, rolling stock and his wife's chocolate chip cookies(he is an excellent host also). Glen ALWAYS insists on running the BN run through coal train. Sammy gave it a new symbol at the last session that absolutely cracked up even the most serious operator there. Unfortunately Glenn has managed to outsmell the feed lots with his BN sewer pickles, wreck the back of a grain elevator by taking the siding too fast, and otherwise holding up all ops wherever he goes. He claimed the brakes went out when he crashed into the elevator, we had no problem believing that because the sewer pickles never seem to gat any sort of maintenance... He may claim different, Glenn has spent many a happy hour with his friends running my Superfleet and Warbonnet locomotives after attending the ATSF RR Mini Meets in KC. Yes folks, this is true. Not a sewer pickle in the whole basement either. So Jay, the only thing nicer than your GP-60M would be three more friends just like it! Santa Fe all the way! Mikie

Sammy as soon as I learn to post photos I will get some of this GP60M up. It wont look as good as Jays though. I see you have found the infamous photo. Did you just add the flag in my left hand? I don't remember it. Mikie I guess I don't remember the elevator accident, but I will blame my conductor for that one since he doesn't get on the D.D. I do know that when I am running at Sammy's we do run like the prototype as in anything painted Green and black does take priority on the railroad at all times. Me and dispatcher John have a mutual understanding that is how the real railroads operate. Jay will you be adding some of the 500 class units to your railroad also? They look awesome green and black. I better leave on that note. Hoover out

Got a lil more work done on the radiator fans. Thanks for the tip Brian:) I will second Jay's comment, I just tried Brian's tip on one of my genesis units and it looks better. Thanks Brian! Jay, the GP60M is looking great! Can't wait to see it finished.

Keep up the great work on that 60M. You've certainly made those factory fans look really good!
Kinda like how my ole buddy Hoover looks a lot better with his Santa Fe hat on. It takes a lot but Santa Fe stuff does make him look a little better.

Sammy that hat is working its magic as my phone hasn't stopped ringing with women calling me asking me if I am available but I have to let them down easy and tell them that I am already taken. I am going to go back and look at some of my other loco's and see if I can fix the fans on them like Jay did. Hoover
