I feel bad for you now.. you are going to listen to Sammy and Eric for help.. ;D I will save the MRL blue and black for you for another project. Don't beleive anything Sammy says. When he comes to our show in a few weeks he has promised to bring his BN and MRL models that he thinks nobody knows about. He is the president of the "BN lovers of Oklahoma", Tulsa chapter. He loves St Patricks day as he can dress up in all BN green for the whole day. Hoover Oh my gosh! That is just too funny!!!...lol Teresa ;D

Thank you for the offer! Teresa ;D You could mix the MRL blue and black to make ATSF blue for a future project. ;D Good point...Lol I will keep that in mind! I actually was going to do my next ATSF in the blue & yellow style, more on that later, got to get this one done first ;D Teresa ;D

wow, how did I miss this one!?! NICE JOB there Teresa. Like other guys here, I did a few projects before I even thought of really hacking into the shell big time like that.
This looks like it's going to be a nice build to watch since I'm a BNSF/flags fan.

This looks like it's going to be a nice build to watch since I'm a BNSF/flags fan. Thanks Dan! Well I am finding that I have really selected a big project now that I have delved into this for the first time...lol I have made some mistakes on the frames already, and now I am going to have to go back and re-do a couple of things, but the cab is coming out OK for a first timer I think (I will leave that to you all to let me know) ;D, I should have a post of it here shortly. I just bent wire for the cab grab irons for the first time, and had to use a tiny bit more putty on my cab (tiny gap!). Putty is my friend ;D). Then I am going to prime it tonight and see what I come up with. I will tell you one thing, I had respect for the modelers on here, but now I have a whole NEW respect of what you all have to go through to get these things built...Geesh....lol I was thinking maybe I should show my mistakes and let people see what NOT to do before I fix my mistakes....LOL. Hummm..... I just might do that Thank you for the compliments! Appreciate it much! Teresa

I guess I just have a high expectation of myself...lol All this encouragement is getting me fired up!! This is a whole new experience for sure. I have found it tries your patients, and don't work on it unless you eat something first...LOL... (that way you don't get the jitters...need that stable hand...lol..especially when you are putting on the tiny parts ;D ;D ;D Thanks again! Teresa

Hello, Just thought I would give you an update on my progress on my cab, it wasn't a Gull Wing, but I am trying to modify it to get it there! I had to bend some wire for the grab irons because the ones on the ATSF 600 that I am building were different. As you can see I still have a couple of holes to plug with Putty followed by a little more sanding. ;D (Remember Putty is my friend...lol). Well until next time, thanks for looking. Teresa ;D

Teresa,
When I saw your first post my initial thought was "Geez! I have an Athearn gull-wing cab you can have!"
I see you're much too far along for that now.... ;D
Fantastic work you're doing so far... I might believe this is your first locomotive build, but you've clearly been doing some kind of modeling for a while now! Keep it up! You've motivated me to get my Warbonnet out of the box and attempt to overcome all the problems I ran into.
And welcome to the Detailer!

It is looking very good. You will be shooting some red paint in no time. When I mask a red and silver warbonnet I lay the masking tape directly on the decal sheet, trace the warbonnet, pull the tape up and then cut it out. I have never had any problems with the tape ruining the decals. This method sometimes freaks people out as they think of what normally happen when you try to pull tape off of regular paper. As you can see I still have a couple of holes to plug with Putty followed by a little more sanding. ;D (Remember Putty is my friend...lol). Speaking of holes to plug, there is a big hole under the headlight on the long hood for the sand filler hatch that will need filling, if you have not done so already. Santa Fe had there sand fillers mounted on top above the headlight. Hope some of this info helps.

As far as doing some kind of modeling before? The ONLY thing I have ever done to tell you the truth is I built and painted a F4U-ID Corsair plane. My boyfriend/ instructor talked me through it, but believe me he made me do it myself... same as now! One thing I have learned is (Teresa,,,read the instructions more than once....LOL...) Test fit first, then.... walk across the carpet so you can lose the tiny parts, and go and try to find them again with a big light.....kidding kind of ;D One of my wires I bent just disapeard.....so I had to bend another one. It's like when you go to get the matching socks out of the washer/dryer but then you only find one of the mates!...LOL Thank you for the kind words, compliments, and WOW.. if I can motivate someone that is the ultimate compliment!! Thanks again!! Teresa ;D

From what I understand they had two different versions of it (RE: Sand filler hatch) I don't think I have that problem on my model. I will check again ;D Thank you for the great tips and the information on the masking tape/decals good to know!! Your suggestions are always welcome ;D Well back to work...lol I need to go back and learn everything the hard way again tonight...lol... ;D Thank you again!! Teresa ;D

We all have those moments. I have a friend hee in Wichita who is a body builder and he has huge arms and fingers. When he tries to detail engines sometimes it is very difficult for him to get his arms and fingers in the right angles and tight areas. He went and bought a brand new Athearn SD70 MAC afew years ago and ran into trouble with some of the fine detail parts he was adding and got so mad he took a mini sledge hammer to it. It was destroyed way past return and it was only a hour or 2 old. He has used that hammer a few more times until I finally told him to just call me when he gets frustrated and set it to the side until I can come over to help him. He has since learned to control his anger a little bit better and has become one heck of a modeler. He is a master at weathering freight cars. Hang in there you are doing just fine. Tell Paul he needs some gloss on that new SP unit he just finished decaling. ;D Glenn

Looking good!

Hey can I put Gloss coat on my nails??...lol might make them nice and shinny ;D ;D ;D After I work on my ATSF it really wrecks my nail polish...LOL..it's a girl thing you know... ;D Ok now all the men can say it...go ahead...."Women!!" ;D ;D Joking about the nail thing...lol Seriously though, thanks for the true story, great you could be there for him... Thank you for the encouragement!! Teresa
