Does anyone know if there is any tread plate kit out there that will work on an athearn SD45 in HO scale? The front porch/nose area is my biggest concern since its so short. The rear im sure i can cobble up something from left over pieces I have.

There is no exact tread plate kit for the SD45 but you could buy like the GP38-2 tread kit from Cannon and maybe there walkway kit and make that work. I have never used the Archer stuff but I heard it was nice. Those are about your 2 only options.

There was a thread about diamond plate decals. I posted that this is huge because it can be tailored for any variation of car body. 81, 88, 109, 123" nose SD_40-2? No problem.

Spike~
I remember your post but I can't seem to locate it. Could you post a link to it? Also will these decals work on a CF7?
Thanks, PVRR2647

Just wish I didn't have to buy a whole kit for 1 little piece. I did the steps in etched ones. I have left over walkway tread and im sure i can make something work for the rear.

Steve, when I did my SD45s, I bought the Cannon GP38-2/40-2 safety treads but didn't like the way they fit. I used Cannon's SD40-2 set and trimmed the ends to fit. For the steps I used A-Line's RPP SD45 etched steps since Athearn's shell started out as Rail Power. The Archer walkway treads sound like a good alternative. Good luck with your build and I forward to seeing it. For those wishing for an illustration of what I tried to describe: dieseldetailer.proboards.com/thread/2866/gn-sd45Steve
