Nice start!
I'll have to build one at some point, I should probably start scavenging at shows.

I have added the walkway on the 3rd shell. Doing the body work now and should have them primed soon. Had to set them aside for awhile to remodel my layout room from top to bottom. Should be completed by next weekend and then I can get back to my projects. I have several to complete and a new request for a phase 1 early SF GP60. New pics to follow soon......
thanks

The shells are made from 2 old style Athearn GP35 shells and 2 Athearn DD40 shells and walkways. I use the old sytle shells so that I can use the DD40 frame without alot of modification. Thanks.

Thanks, now all I need are a pair of trucks!
This looks like a better conversion than one I saw somewhere on the net.

I have seen the DD40's on Ebay a lot lately and some of them are priced pretty well others are high. I am sure you will find a set of trucks without too much trouble. I have seen some pretty good deals on ones that need work which is just what your looking for to do your conversion. I did a DD35 B a long time ago and sometimes wish I still had it since I have rebuilt my Bachmann Centennial ( DD40AX ) they would make for a nice set.
Good luck with you build we would all like to see it for sure.

The links below are to my website. www.traincarhobbies.com/ I also have some videos up on my youtube channel www.youtube.com/user/traincarhobbies/videos I have several pics of DD35s and other locomotives that I have built on the website. I hope to start work again on the DD35s in the next couple of weeks. I have finished the remodel of the layout room and working on a new track plan. Carl

Sorry for the long delay. Between health issues and funerals I have not made much progress. I hope to update this weekend with some new pics. Thanks for checking back.
