I have seen several SP diesel locos on the net build by Elizabeth Allen. I was wondering if she has a website, or has posted articles on how she builds them? I think they are amazing and I'd love to learn a thing or two (hundred) of her. Cheers!

She's a member here, but she doesn't post. Maybe she's shy.

Thanks Dan and Randy. If she doesn't post then that's a shame, I would love to learn from her. The level of detail in her SP models is incredible! I've got a GP40 and a GP35 that I am about to start on and will be SP'fied. :-)
Cheers, Koos

Exactly, and that's why I'd like to learn from her, she has so much talent and skill that I'm hoping she'd share it. Just look at the under frame detail of that locomotive! Koos Attachments:

For those of you attending the National Train Show July 8-10 that is connected with the NMRA Convention, in Sacramento, CA. stop by the Cannon and Company booth (number 141). Liz will be helping me and will have several of her outstanding models on display including her latest UP SD40X. With luck we will have some new surprises too. So stop by and introduce yourself. The Train Show is independent of the Convention so you don't have to attend the convention to come to the show. www.nationaltrainshow.org/2011/sacramento.htmlDave Hussey www.cannonandco.net

Got any pics of her SD40X Dave? EMD's with flared radiators seem to be her specialty!

All you can say is WOW! I've seen some of her work before and its just outstanding. She definitely sets the bar high, I don't think I'd ever want one of my models sitting next to hers.....it would make mine look like an old Tyco

I'd love to attend the show David, but being on the other side of the atlantic is a bit of a 'challenge'...
Looking forward to seing her newer work though, and if she'd ever be willing to answer a few questions via e-mail, please feel free to PM her my e-mail address.
Cheers, Koos

VERY nice SD40X!!! She even got the often overlooked "two different battery box doors" correct for UP 3040-3044. I love how she used half of the early pacman style walkway light end also!!! Freakin awesome!!!

I don't usually post on old threads. But something I've seen on MRH website kind of turned my stomach. I've been hoping Liz would be so kind as to post to say hello here or share some of her modeling skills, but knowing how some people have to be so rude and pick like buzzards just bugs the heck out of me. Joe Fugate had an article on one of her builds, and the NMRA zealots tore her apart on how she didn't scratchbuild anything because she used Canon & Company parts. If you get a chance to go read the article, please do. She is an excellent modeler!
If I measured myself by what the NMRA says a Modeler is, I would not be in the model railroad hobby. They are the worst kind of rivet counters and stand all puffed up with their MMAs. I have no use for the NMRA, they put a sour taste in my mouth over 30 years ago.
I hope modelers like Elizabeth Allen do not take those people as the kind of people we here on the Detailer are. And now I know why she and other modelers with skills equal or beyond mine stay away from the web. It's really a shame.

Randy, at one time the local NMRA regional was run by a bunch of good ol boys that thought that no true modeler would do any scale but HO.The region is now run by real model railroaders who welcome all scales and genders to this fine hobby.
I would suspect that these MMR's were more threatened by the fact that Elizabeth is (A) Female and (B) a better modeler than they are than the fact the loco was not totally scratch built.
I for one would welcome the lady here just like I believe the rest of the guys would.Maybe we could convince Dave Hussey to put in a good word for us with the lady.

I'm an NMRA member but I agree that having to jump through hoops to become an MMR is like joining the secret handshake club. Surely anybody can be in the hobby regardless of the level of involvement.
I say good on Liz Allen and I'd welcome more of her works.

I read that MRH article and then saw the comments section and got sick to my stomach. MMR's or not, those kinds of comments are generally made by people that are very jealous because they couldn't build a Blue Box kit without ruining it. Elizabeth Allen is a magician when it comes to building models. I wish I could learn half the things she's forgotten. I would love to see her post on here, but I know she won't after the garbage that was posted of MRH... And that's a real shame. *Let me clarify... I didn't mean she would get that type of reception here. Didn't want to come across that way when I posted. I just meant she is probably not going to be posting on very many forums in light of what happened on MRH...*
