I guess this is the right spot for this. Models shown are all Atlas Silver Series. 9316 is a GP40 and 9637 & 9669 are GP40-2L(W)'s. Nothing was done to the -2L's other than weathering. 9316 has the correct headlight/bell/horn arrangement and added scratchbuilt snowshields that have the same slope as the cab roof. The ditchlights were left out and plow added to match the 1980's look. The prototype picture shows that the horn was relocated to the long hood sometime in the mid 90's. Prototype circa 1996:

I have an Atlas like you that I have to relocate the headlight: did you use the existing surface mount led? What paint are you using to match the Atlas paint?

I haven't actually moved the light yet (if you look closely there aren't even any lenses in the lights) but I am planning on installing a separate LED in the low nose. As for the paint, I actually used Testors Model Master Chevy Engine Red. It is a little dark for the proper CN red, but so is Atlas's blend. I didn't bother to strip the paint off of the nose or cab face either. I simply hit them with a light coat of paint directly over the existing paint, that way, the old paint still shows through a bit, giving an even closer match. I know it sounds weird, but it works, trust me.

Funny that you should say you use Chevy Engine Red actually Taylor because I was talking to a fellow not long ago who was telling me that they use that same colour for touch ups in many CN shops.

Thanks for the neat fact Doug. The TLT CN No. 11 is a great match for the 1961 scheme, but I find it too light for the stripes scheme. I have some paint chips off some CN equipment and the Chevy Engine Red is the closest match I could find.

I finally relocate the headlight on my GP40. they really look like more a CN unit!! I use TLT paint and add weathering to reduce the difference between the colors.

Looks good. I still need to add the split air tanks and the cdn steps. I'll do that this summer. The weathering hides the new paint on yours as well as mine.
