I want to cut down the fuel tank, would I build a new end or cut the other end off and superglue it back on?

The Proto 2000 GP60 is much better than Athearns GP60. the drive and detail is good but the fuel tank needs to br shortened . thanks Mike T

The proto 2000 model comes with a small tank and a large tank with undecorated models. It even comes with detail parts for both tanks!!

I'm cutting down to shorten it You might want to look at using the Athearn BB GP38-2 chassis, as it has the short tank. The Blue Box GP38-2, GP40-2, GP50 and GP60* underframes are all interchangeable. *The Athearn BB GP60 was built using a GP50 underframe. But, on the real GP50's and GP60's there is a 1' difference in bolster spacing, with the GP60's being the longer of the two. Dan

Funny that I replaced the side frames on my P2K GP60 with Athearn frames.
I'd try Dan's idea and use a GP38-2 chassis

Question for the experts: Is the Proto 2000 HO GP38-2 chassis interchangeable with the GP60 chassis? My Proto GP38-2 has a defective frame. Broken and cracked in several places. Walthers does not have the GP38-2 chassis in stock anymore, even though it was purchased in the last year. Any thoughts?

Good luck trying to find any Proto power GP 60s since Walters has taken over their Parts system really stinks. Haven't tried personally to get anything from Walters but knowing their past history I wouldn't hold my breath
