Hi !
Since i have read the article in the Railroad model craftsman last year, i always wanted to try my chance with this model. The article are relatively old due the fact that i lot of new pieces are now available.
I had started tonight with what i have on hand... I must order more pieces to continu.
The cab :
In the article he talk about a RS2 cab, is not bad but not exact match. The roof , the windows, the front and rear wall is not corect, so nothing is corect for this model. With a friend i had check i lot of possibility. The roof of the GP9 look to be the better. One side of the RS2 cab can be used for one side and at the moment i'm not sure of what i will use for the front and rear, maybe a mix of RS2 ang GP9.
Let's show the first picture :
I keep the side with 3 windows and one side for the moment, i will determinate later what i will make when i receive the GP7/9 cab.
On the second picture :
I must remove the left part of the windows, for that i use a 0.005" styrene to cover to hole.
On the next picture :
I glue a little pieces of 0.010" styrene to add some strongest.
On the next image :
I had sand smooth the bottom box. of course the prototype don't have this kind of box.
The step :
The better step that i have found is those one of a C-630, on the next picture i cut them from the walkway.
The rest of the pieces go on a box for the moment, maybe i will need them later !
That's all for the first part, like i tell i need to order some part to continu.
Post picture and describe the work need a lot of time, specially that my first language is french, i will continu depending of the interrest and the participation.
Thanks !
