That Volmer roundhouse brings back memories. That and the matching Fleishman automatic indexing turntable were a christmas present when I was a little boy.
The turntable was a bit of a PITA. It lasted, basically, until summer, when the atic (where the train was) got hot, and the rubber tires used to drive the turntable broke. If you could get the tires, you'd have to rerivet the wheels to mount them. Drive motor was in the control cab of the bridge. Except for the rubber tires, it was all nicely built - typical German engineering (except, ahem, for the rubber tires).

At the time I took that first shot, I have more roundhouse kits unbuilt, for a total of 18 stalls, I was going for the full round house with a one track gap (at the time) but ended up selling the whole thing before I built anymore. It would of been cool to see but I realized the chances of having a layout to justify using a 4x4 foot area just for that was probably never going to happen.
