You know I thought this was gonna be an SD9-3, but I just looked at your proto's pics and I think this was an original low nose right? If so, does any manufacturer make an SD9 like that and that's what you're starting with or are you cutting down a hi-nose?

All SD9s originally had a high nose, over time many railroads chopped the noses to make low nose versions. Similarly, all the commercially produced SD9 scale models are high nose.

Dang it, I was gonna offer up some photos, until I realized that out of the 4 SD7/9's we had roaming Seattle, the 1726 is the one I never did a photo walkaround of. I have 6104, 6135 and 6144. But never got the to 6147/1726. In case anyone is wondering where "swine power" came from. It was written on there because one of our yardmaster's in Seattle had a heart valve replaced. Shortly after he returned to work, the engine was dubbed "swine power".

Using the ATLAS cab will save you a lot of work, though you may have to shim the bottom of the cab to get a good fit.

.03" square styrene works for shimming the Atlas cabs, but the M4D cab includes the chopped nose as well to save that step.
