I think i need some more working room, this project got a little "wide" Okay, i'm done with the bad puns, I promise. Bessemer Hobbies shipped me my cab kit today, as soon as I got it I assembled it, excellent quality for a kit thats been around as long as I can remember. Anywho, the Long hood end and anticlimber should be arriving from Cannon tomorrow, and Athearn should be sending me some goodies as well.

Looks like a fun build, I'm still working on my River Run GP38-2W.

Either Huron Central 3011 or A&W re-logoed of the same unit, haven't decided yet.
Hey Randy- Does the roof of your cab's roof rise roughly 1/32 of an inch higher than the inertial room?

No, I'm using an ATLAS GP38-2 and it sits right on the ridge.

Well, I dug out my old copy of How to Detail Diesel Locomotives (Jim Volhard - Kalmbach Publ.) and found that the cab on his GP40-2L rode up high as well, must be the athearn shell. I also found a Snow-sheild scratch building pattern, so we should be back in motion when mor eparts show up!

If you look at this Kato, you'll see that the cab will fit flush in it also....once I file the flash off from where I cut the Kato Spartan Cab off.

After a tad mor ework and smoothing, the cab is only ridding a scale 2-3 Inches high, I can live with that, this isn't going to be a Trophy model anyways.
Today I started working on the distinctive snow shields, as well as cutting off the rear hood end and a hole for the brake wheel. Cannon & Co is sending a replacement end with not number boards and a front Anti-climber. I intend to use an Athearn SD40T-2 front railing as a viable stand in.
I also went and filed the ECAB off the Conductors side, and started scratchbuilding a set of stairs.
I've yet to decide if I want to hack out the steps on the Athearn model to represent the correct 4-step ladders, I also broke out the soldering iron and installed a DH123 decoder to the drive, which you can see being test fit in the shell through the site-glass hole above.
