Has anyone used the railflyer tread plates, steps, sills, or pilots with a athearn or atlas frame. I like the look of these products but I dont think I want to get into the modifications necessary to make the atlas frame, truck and motor mechanism work with railflyer's base so I was wondering if anyone had done the opposite and used an existing athearn or preferably atlas frame, trucks and motor?

I'll vouch for the strength of the pilots after the photo-etch steps are added...a drop off the workbench to one of my models did no damage...which was impressive.

The Railflyer steps are incredibly nice. I'm adding them to the pair of L&N/CSX SD40s I'm working on right now. The steps wells go together very easily and everything lines up perfectly. The biggest issue I'm running into is trying to cut out the notch underneath the deck. Just been hesitant to cut a notch in the parts afraid I'll mess them up.
