Are there still any SP SD40t-2's out there in service today with the L shaped cab front window?  Also what was the purpose of it? Seems quite the oddity, or EMD genius of the past?!!?!? |

Ah, thanks for the info PEIR! This was going to be my first CI engine, with a patch job none the less! Oh well, the fun as im starting to learn about freelancing is making your own timeline. SOOOOO, I think this sucker is going to stay as is!!!! Plus it would be pretty cool!!!

the biggest problem with the L window is that it requires the railroads to have another size window in their parts supply. I would imagine that they have to have the L windows custom made as well which drives the price up.

Thanks for all the replies, Now its time to debate about attempting to swap out the cab, or continue to move forward with the patch job!?!?!? When ya think about, all the oddities out there in the real world as far as locomotives! Esp. nowadays with the rebuilds, the newer "green" engines!!! In all honesty, would ya think something like this wouldnt be to far fetched?!?!?!? 1 good of the wall 1 was the "frankenstein" engine #9402!!!! Oh well, I guess just my 10 cents worth!!!

after some more debating, I put a message out for a cab swap, heck, I may even try my hand at a cannon cab!!!

The Cannon cabs are not hard to build just follow the directions and for a better build go to Brain Banna's web page and he has an article on how to build one..If you want the patched L window HiTech has the front of the cab with the patch already that fits the Cannon kit......

I wonder how hard that would be to instal? Im pretty good at detailing and such, but Ive never done anything like this!!! Plus, make it look good!!!
