This is my first post on this board and I have been trolling around for awhile so I decided to contribute. I have decided to build a CSX Road Slug since I am changing my prototype road from BNSF to CSX. I have a few questions though. First is to all the CSX modelers, what paint do you use for the YN3 yellow. I bought pollyscale CSX yellow but it looks too bright. A second question is why did CSX remove the Inertial filter screen on one side of the slug and not the other? Thanks in advance Andy Also here is my progress so far...not much it is finals week here at school. The Prototype: and my progress:

Polly Scale makes a CSX YN3 gold as well as YN3 Blue which are about dead on match. As for the inertial filter gone on 1 side CSX did not do these slugs or any of the others they were contracted by other shops. So far they have had 3 batches of Road Slugs done at 3 different shops first batch mainly GP30/35 cores were done by Precision National(PNC), 2nd batch was built from GP38/40 cores built by National Railway Equipment(NRE) & the third & most recent batch all build from GP39/40 cores built by Progress Rail Services. Each rebuilder did things different on the carbody such as different doors removed & saved etc....
I have done a few slugs and I will post shots of them later tonight

The missing inertial filter screen is on the engineer's side, by the back door. They remove it so that you can't hit your head on it when going in-out the back door. Usually don't go near the other one on the other side, except maybe to clean the back window over there.

Nice progress. It looks like the air filter box is also gone on the prototype. Are you going to remove that also?

Nice. How long does it take to remove all of the detail off the sides of the shell? Or do you cut the entire side out and replace it with sheet styrene?

Mike, I just used a sanding block and a lot of elbow grease to smooth the sides down
