and another N scale Kato SD70ACe in the make, this time I let you find out the prototype from which this model is built after... - (KCSRailfan was right, it is a QNS&L one) 'some' modifications on the cab (the small picture on the left shows the stock Kato cab and the antenna dome is not as tall anymore)... modifications on the roof... (a strobe is missing but will be added as well) as per prototype, ditch lights on the back porch... the 'usual' fan and louvres set mounted... and that's why I like to take pictures while I am building models... (...haven't noticed the out of shape grill in Normal size)

Thats incredible!
Whats the story behind the really tall grabirons on either side of the horn? I've never seen anything like that before.

thank you all for your kind words... the 'craddle' around the horn and the strobe looks like some sort of protection, probably because of a tight clearance at or in the loader or unloader...

Look at the fans in the first link above. They are fully enclosed in winterization hatches. I didn't notice that but you are right, why didn't you tell me before... ? something the H0 sister defenitely will have...

well Fred, it's all your fault...remember this picture ? Fred told me that the QNS&L ACes have a winterization hatch around the two big cooling fans. with the help of one picture and a copy of some blue prints of the fan section I started 'open heart surgery' on the already finished model... first I removed the fan covers... with a little help of a xacto #17 chisel I removed the original fans on the Kato shell... test fit of the 'winterization hatch' bases, hmmm something doesent fit properly (optical illusion)... the winterization hatch now with a frame... fan grills and lift rings mounted... from another angle (all what's needed now is some paint)... ...and that all because of Fred, thank you !
