Hello, I just got a Brass U-25 Hi hood model. Truck sideframes look like %&^* !! But the Body is what I need. I have the operator manual's for the units and the one manual # GEJ-3813 has both low and HI hood drawings inside. Question is the Hi Hood show's a steam Generator in the short hood and states could be had Were any of the units built with a steam generator for there DEMO work ? Where are there pictures of them in DEMO ? Have seen only 1 and need both sides and the rear. Thank's Jim

It's hard to find photos online of the roofs but, I believe the high hood demonstrators went to the Frisco after their demo tours were over. I found the following Frisco roster that lists the U25s (I assume your talking about the 'B's) 816-823, the former demonstrators, as not having steam generator equipment. condrenrails.com/Frisco/Frisco_Diesels.htmNow that doesn't mean that Frisco couldn't have taken them out upon delivery, they certainly could have. I would almost have guessed for a demonstration tour they would have had all the bells and whistles, including steam generators but I'm not 100% certain on that.

Mike, Some DEMO units went to the UP also Both HH and Low hood. Was just wondering as the GE Manual stated Can be ordered with. The unit I got is a real nice looking but minus a few small detail's HH demo 2502 went to UP as did 2501 a Low hood But the funny thing is both of these had the cast steps on the ends They look kinda like a GE copy of an ALCO RS-3 with the split fuel tank's and air tank placement. May try and make a set of tanks for another unit. The low hood # 2501 has the cast step on the ends but looks like it has the larger single fuel tank. I may add a S/G to it and use it pulling a few coaches.
