I am thinking of trying my hand at my first kitbashing project, A GE U30CB cabless unit. BN had one of these Road NO. 4500. I never knew this loco existed. What would be a good starter shell for this project? I made up my mind I want to try this despite the numbness in my fingers (carpal tunnel syndrome). After Seeing all of your guys work, I want to start cutten plastic!!!!

Forrest I would start with the Atlas U30C model as it looks right to me from the pictures. The high hood kit from Hi Tech Details might be right for this application but i cant find any pictures of it. The cabless conversion piece from Smokey Valley might work on this model also but the U30 looks like it has moer of a square corner along the roof line versus the rounder look of the B30-7A's. Good luck, maybe somebody else here can offer you some more help. Glenn Hoover

Hi Forrest, I actually built this unit out of an Atlas Silver series unit. You will need the HiTech Details hi-hood unit and some sheet plastic. The details on how I built it are on my site. PM me if you have questions or want more photos. raeder.yolasite.com/u30cb.php

I noted after opening up Frateschi.com.br/produtos/locomotivas.php -their English version-, I scrolled down to where to buy in the United States of America -there's only one dealer.. I would have expected more than this..
