I just picked up an older undec with dynamics Atlas GP7 Frame and Shell off the 'Bay. Now this sucker didn't have a drive line or trucks in it, so I dug through the parts bin and cobbled some Athearn dummy trucks onto the frame. It was actualy simpler than I though.
This will just be a temporary measure until I can find a powered GP7 to canibalize for parts for this unit and a few other ideas I have.
With an exactor knife and some tweezers I have the shell broken down to its main painting pieces in 10 minutes, and should the weather be fair tomorrow after work I'll spray the first coats of color. It's getting a simple Orange and Yellow GWI paint scheme, no modification to the body (IE CHope nose, etc) and will represent an A&W repaint. Most G&W GP9s/7s being shopped have the high short hood chopped down, like I said, future project. Pictures to follow!

Well, i can't ever leave well enough alone, everything turns into a project: Painted the frame Yellow, about to paint the unit, when I realised that a bright adn shiney high nosed geep just wouldn't look quite right. Off to the parts bin. I cut the cab "interior" from the Atlas shell, dropping the short hood off, I cut the cab free from the battery boxes and replaced it with an Athearn 40-2 cab cannibalized from my on going, ever slower GP40-2L project. I've yet to cut the short hood down, but I'm not 100% on what to do witht he hood doors on the conductor's side. I just can't leave anything alone. EDIT: yes I know i painted the couplers, they're getting replaced with scale kadees soon.
