Hi all, hope you're stayin safe in this winter.Quick question:I'm ordering the Atlas RS36 National loco number 1800.I know the prototype was ex-NKP.so I'm planning on adding poling pockets and the extra long hood grabs.I can't however find a good photo to tell me whether or not the unit retained that bell in the belfry so common to that road's units.Any hepl would be appreciated, thamks,Anthony

Hi Nathony I have 2 photos that show the opening in the nose, but I can't tell if the bell's in there or not. I would asume it is, and I don't see it anywhere else. One of the model mags did an article on National Locomotive many years ago. I have it somewhere! There was at least 1 shot of 1800 in it. More likely to be RMC.

Here's some photos, of course none of which show the bell. However, in the first picture, you can see that the notch is definitely there. However, this last photo may mean I'm able to help you: #1800 was rebuilt and repainted in the same building I work in now... I'll see what I can dig up for you.

How did you find pictures of this National Locomotive RS-36.. I have tried using Google, I have done searches on the various locomotive roster picture web sites, etc. and I can't find ANYTHING... In fact, the pictures posted in this thread are the only ones I could find... Also - I see a reference to this having been a NKP locomotive at one time -- does anyone know the NKP road number and/or of any links to information to that part of it's history? Thanks in advance - I just want to get the details right on this...
