Hi guys, This recently completed model was for a client of mine: Model is completely custom painted in Western Pacific's "New Image" scheme. Added details include Nathan M5 air horn, fine scale MU's, rebuilt pilot, Pyle Gyralite, A/C unit, ground plain w/firecracker antenna, pin-lifters, WP-standard "Soup Cans" (MU holders), correct barrel-type headlights (rear only), Cannon fans, speed recorder, updated fuel tank and trucks, etc. Prototype Note: The real 3004 was rebuilt by M-K and received an updated cab, therefore lost it's cab barrel-type headlight, but retained this feature on the rear. Weathered to match prototype photos around 1984. Thanks for looking.

Awesome build, Andrew! I especially like the light weathering. Is this a Kato?

I like it. I don't see "soup cans" on the stanctions modeled much. They're an eyecatching detail to me. You've done a very nice job for your customer. What is the orange wire/pipe running across the nose and down the engineer's side?

What is the orange wire/pipe running across the nose and down the engineer's side? That would be the drain pipe for condensation from the A/C.

Thanks for the comments guys! And I agree Steve, you rarely see Soup Cans modeled. Brian, the Soup Cans are used to hold the MU cables before they had "Dummy" plugs. Union Pacific copied this WP practice after the 1980's merger and now many UP units have them. Thanks to Cyrus for clearing up that not all UP units have "Cans" as I thought.

The last UP units to get 'cans' was the SD9043MACs. Everything since and that has been overhauled has been recieving dummy MU plugs as some of the newer MU cables now have a removal system and don't fit in the old 'cans' anymore. Just an FYI.
Great looking model I am doing one of these as well but mine retained the old barrel front numberboard but got a rebuilt rear end. Can't remember the number at the moment, I think it will be the 3009.

Thanks again for the comments! @ Kerry (ranchwagon), you are correct, it's a Kato.

A really nice build there and the weathering is a good representation of the time period the trucks really catch the eye.Am doing these along with the GP40 re-builds and am wondering what you used for the horn base? On the first that I did I had to use two different horns to get the one I wanted, what did you use? Also what geen/orange did you use? I really never noticed the drain pipe for the air conditioner while I was out on the right -of-way welding,to busy trying not getting runned over. Super model Thanks

Great job Andrew.....of course. I like the updated cab, it gives it a bit of variation for the owner, plus you didn't have to retro-fit the barrel-type onto the cab Rick
