Hi Folks I am new to the forum, after some considerable time out from the hobby and even more time out from diesel detailing (last efforts were back in the early 1980's!!!) I got back into detailing last year, mainly because the Railroad I model doesnt have too many 'out of the box' ho replicas! As I have a railroad to build I am not aiming to get too carried away with things but on the other hand I enjoy the modelling process and aim to get a reasonable replica. Anyhow lets see if I have got this ling thing worked out and I can try a couple of pics of progress!

It kind of worked!
These pics were taken late last year, the engine is now painted and in the process of being decaled.
The prototype is one of the 17 original ATSF phase 1 GP39-2's that the PNWR now owns. Some of the fleet still wear their yellow and blue warbonnets with PNWR patches, some have been painted in PNWR's corporate Geneesee and Wyoming colours. Every single one of these phase 1 GP39-2's, due to age and mileage has some unique features so you have to study photos of the particular engine you are modeling! The other interesting thing is the PNWR painted engines are 'named' after towns on the system, 2314 is McMinniville.
I started with an Atlas early GP38 and had to fabricate correct long hood door configuration with cannon parts. I shortened the fuel tank, added an anti climber, cannon filter boxes, grilles, cannon fans, extended the dynamic brake bulge, shortened the rise of one walkway, installed battery boxes off an athearn -2 shell, ditch lights will be fitted with small LED's that I hope to figure out how to add to the dcc system plus I added other sundry detail parts to match 2314.
The fuel tank has been detailed since these pictures were taken.
I have a heap of precision scale stanchions and plan on adding these with detail associates wire for the handrails, any hints from those of you in the know on installing these will be gratefully accepted!
