Decided to start my first project...where I converted an Athearn SD50 in Conrail paint into the new SD40E rebuild by Norfolk Southern. Steps taken included removing and mounting the horn before the first fan, repainting the unit, adding the ac unit and sinclair antenna on sloped roof on engineer's side, adding m/u cables, pilot mounted ditch lights and adding a "helper link" box on the front porch.

Very good job! I like the Conrail style flexi-coil trucks under it too.

Not everyone knows the situation, it looked like you were being rude.

Great job!! I have taken alot of detail shots of these engines, just in case I ever want to model them. Looking at yours, really temps me to do it sooner than later. They are neat looking engines! You do great work-are you planning on doing another one to have a pair for pusher service? Thanks for sharing!

Yes as a matter of fact I just finished up a second one, 6317, and I hope to use them as pushers here in the near future!

It's hard to blame him, kinda the reason why I like to model patchouts, because I'm a fan of modern day railroading and have always had a liking for Conrail. I will always get a little heckling from Mike no matter what ;D

Other then the fact that you painted a good conrail engine you are good at what you are doing seeing that you are doing that good maybe i can get you to start weathering your stuff to make it even more outstanding ( side note Brice, Zane over at the hobby shop got the new junk yard items in from walthers like the bailer and the shear and they do need some work but they look good )

I need to pick up some good colored paints to do the job. I've got powders right now, but any suggestions on paint colors for weathering?

Nice looking unit! I've seen these around the port area in Newark. They have the usual dusting, but they don't look filthy.
