Hey Guys, Well, after sitting on the back burner for nearly two years SP GP9E 3828 is ready for active service! I picked this up off ebay in early 2009, was a patched N&W (IIRC) PC unit that looked rather ratty, perfect reason for rebuilding! I decided to model her as she looked around 1993-94, with the light show plated over and the strobe. Added details include plated over light show, rear number boards and class lights. Number board access doors installed, all new metal cut bars, drop steps, strobe, whip antenna, MU stands, Nathan P3 horn, metal eye bolts, completely re-designed fuel tank, truck air lines, MU's and more. This unit looked really weather-beaten by the 1990's, so I tried to capture that look on the model as well. Equipped with operating headlights and strobe. Open to comments and criticism! Thanks for reading!

I really like the overall appearance of the unit. well worn and has definitely seen service on the SP.

A pair or sergent couplers would help the appearance. I like the weathering; very realistic!

That's great Andrew. Do I see a cat's whisker antenna?

Thanks very much for all the comments! @ Andrew (Smoke): I've actually thought of using them, but didn't feel like messing around adding it for the photo. @ Randy: The antenna is actually a piece of super-fine wire. And I agree, it seems like you see so many of SP's GP9's in the Black Window scheme and then in the 1960-70 numbering, but rarely modeled in the 1990's. Now that this one is done I want a dozen more! LOL

Thanks, Lance!
I did actually use the stock P2K fans. When I started this model I didn't know half what I know now, so I didn't even think of replacing the fans, now I will on future models. As for the numberboard access doors, I used cut down Cannon hood doors, this requires a lot of careful cutting and sanding. I'm really looking forward to seeing photos of your model!
