I believe Brian Banna did a model of this.... "creature".... a few years back, which is why I knew what it was when it turned up behind my dorm in Bethlehem, PA today. It's a former SP SD45T-2 with the long hood from a SOU SD40-2. Weird.... Here's a gallery with some pictures: s755.photobucket.com/albums/xx195/rudystrains/1-19-11%20NREX%209402/

Looks like it still has the notch in the nose too. Cool unit.

Just because it was still there and I had some time, I added some night shots to the above album. Here's the link to Brian Banna's build: www.6axlepwr.com/NREX_9402.html

Hi Rudy,
Great catch. Am I correct in thinking it was on a CP train? Maybe they'll be nice and send it up my way. Were the night shots taken with ambient light? I like the way that the clouds look smoothed over.
Cheers,
Peter.

Yes, it was on a CP set of power idling waiting to pick up an NS train. The engine coupled to the front of it is actually a CEFX SD40-2.... ex-SP SD45. No, it does not still have the L window, but it does have the obvious telltale signs that it was modified.
Night shots were done with ambient lights, as it was parked right next to a lit parking lot... conveniently across the street from my dorm! I could see it out my window and hear it idling all night.... what sweet music to fall asleep to!!!

ARRGGHHHH!!! Where was all this when I did my project unit last year!?!?! These would have been sooo handy...
@randy: I had the same thought and I picked up the Woodland Scenics BBQ set just for that purpose. I'll stage a shot and post it up.
Nice shots, Rudy. Getting a set of walkaround shots on this unit, combined with Brian Banna's write up on building the unit, makes it even easier to do now! This is great!
