Over the weekend I got a bit closer to finishing my latest model. It is GMTX GP38 #2679. The base model is an Atlas GP38 with some added detailing. The customer wanted this model as a runner so he did not want any under frame super detailing, just the basics. The air reservoirs are Cannon & Co. with the backs cut out to fit in the same manner as the Atlas sausage link air reservoirs. Plumbing parts are Details West. Ditch light housings are all custom made front and back. Units sports Cannon fans and inertial filter hatch. Grab irons are stock Atlas. Sealed cab door is made by removing all the details from the Atlas cab door and laminating a Cannon door over it. Lift rings are from Plano Model Products. Except for the warning decals, all other decals are custom made. I am waiting on two more custom decals before I finish the model. They are window, number board and class light gasket decals and one special warning label decal that is very prominent on this unit so I had to have it made. What you see below is where the model sits now waiting for the extra decals. Brian

Hi Brian,
Looks nice - what did you do for the dynamic brake intakes? I like the see-thru look they have.

Brian,
You get the cookie.
That is the new part in developement. I I designed it and Plano will be selling it. We are perfecting the design, Plano will be offering this as a part. This part will fit Atlas GP DB hatches. Won't work for Athearn because the Athearn DB opening is larger than Atlas.

My God! That is simply beautiful. The coupler cut bars are simply outstanding. You wouldn't have an interest in building a couple of NS U23B's would you? Christian

It should not be to long. We are fine tuning the parts now. After fitting up the test samples I found where I needed to make some changes. Keith has those changes and only needs to run a new test run, but he can't really just do that. He adds the test samples to a product run. So when he has a product run again of .005" S.S., then he can add the test samples to that run. Once teh part is perfected, then he will make a specific product run of these new parts.
Note: These grills will not work in an Athearn DB hatch. They were designed to fit an Atlas DB hatch. The Athearn hatch has a larger opening. This is just the beginning (test) and we are working out how we really want to approach all the different manufacturers DB hatches.

How easy would it be to kit bash a C430 drive . I may need some help in kitbashing the drive and i thought i would use a kato motor and atlas drive but i thought i would ask you first since you started to paint that Overland C430 on your site ( I wish i could have bought it) How much did you sell for since i am trying to get a basic price range for them painted in the NYSW since that is my home road . Thanks Mike T

The cost was included ina package deal so I have no idea what the actual cost was. If I would have finished it, I would have sold it for $700.00.
As for a drive, I have no idea. I never tried to build a C430 from scratch.

Thanks Brian. I might buy 2 overland C430 when i get some cash but for now i am saving for a overland unpainted C32-8 that will get the ballest express and a NS patch since i have the Number bords from the 8361 . I think its for 350.00 plus a walthers GP15 shell and a rail power C32-8 shell ( when i saw the overland C32 I could not understand how badly railpower shell looked but it took me a few months to beleve that Ed Ryans C39-8 was a kitbashed C32-8 ) by the way your work is top notch !
