Nice work. You may be interested to know that there were at least three Chessie System units that were painted solid blue with yellow Chessie-font lettering - similar to the old B&O/C&O era scheme. One of them was a B&O SD20-2 and it may even have received the Capitol Dome on the nose.

Do you mean they were solid blue with yellow Chessie with cat symbol et al, or they were solid blue with B&O and no Chessie etc, only with the B&O written in Chessie font? Matthew

Hey Dan, nice engine! However, I would recommend you to have the loco sealed with a matte varnish (as long as the window glazing is not in place or at least covered) The model appears more "realistic" in my opinion if it is not that glossy. Even the GP40 I saw in 2010 at the B&O museum (which is perfectly restored and looked like newly painted fresh out the shops) hasn't such a glossy appearance

Hmmm...I like shiny locos...oh, right, prototype modeling...gotcha.
Nice unit, I like seeing these paint schemes that were only done on a few units and hearing about where they came from. I like the contrast between the dark blue and the yellow sill and lettering.

Matthew Sorry to have left you guys hangin'. The units in question were painted solid Chessie blue with yellow Chessie-style letters and no logo. It would have been neat if they added a yellow Chess-C, but I guess this was supposed to be an austere scheme. Here is an example as applied to an B&O SD20-2. B&O 7700

Hey Dan, Looks sharp and don't go too dirty on it! I like them lightly weathered and clean myself. Yes I know there were not many like that, just my two cent's worth.
