Hello all.
These shots were all taken today because of the nice sun and I had the time to get a lot of this stuff out of their boxes. I will be brief in the descriptions because all of this equipment is pretty much box stock (for now). Since becoming a member here on DD and seeing all the fantastic work that can be done to these models I feel it is time to take my stuff to the next level one locomotive at a time.
The diorama that you see is 6 foot in length and is completely made from ceiling tiles. It sits on a self with an acrylic case over it all the time to keep it and the equipment clean.
I swap out motive power once in awhile to keep it fresh. I have some rolling stock that will soon be worked on as well so it too can be swapped around with the different power. I will be putting the TTX logos and all other necessary decals on the Double Stacks soon. These are my favorite style of container cars.
First up is my Super Fleet set. The FP-45 B unit was built for me by a guy I found on Ebay selling an ABA set done in Pennsy Brown. He told me he had done a set of the original red & silver war bonnet so I asked if he would do one for me as the Super Fleet. The two A units are both powered but the B is not, however he did put power trucks in it just in case I want to power it. All my stuff is shelf models so that wont happen. The trailing unit is a Dash 9 dummy.
This unit is a Genesis SD-60 that I stole from Ebay for $50.00
and that included shipping!
The Rio Grand Unit is an SD40T-2 dummy and the SP unit is an SD40T-2 Snoot dummy.
Just a quick shot of the Gunderson Double Stacks
The first unit is an SD40-2 ex Missouri Pacific that GT bought a hand full of and re shot the center section as close to the yellow that was on the unit as they could and then put their logo on them. this was one of my first strip and repaint projects. This unit is powered
The second unit is a custom painted GP40 and the third unit is a custom painted SD38. I did all these units many years ago. The SD38 is powered the Geep is a dummy
Lead unit is an SD40-2 Snoot dummy the second unit is an SD40-2 standard length hood dummy the third unit is a Dash 9 also a dummy.
Lead unit is an SD40-2 Powered. The second unit is an SD40T-2 Snoot powered, this one is waiting on a set of side hand rails to arrive in the mail because it came with a side set of SD40-2's OOPS!
The trailing unit is an SD40-2 Olympic Special Powered. I have had this one since it first came out.
This was my first kit bash. An SD40-2 Snoot powered, the stock hood was removed and replaced with the Snoot nose that I bought as a kit. This unit is powered and has been in the fleet a very long time as well.
The second unit is the only Non Athearn, it is a Kato that I got from my brother as a gift and it of course is powered.
An oldie but a goodie that will get all the hand rails removed and the stupid cardboard cover I put on the front pilot I am going to do all the hand rails with wire using the originals for templates. This is an original issue of this locomotive not the spectrum one. I have had this one many years as well.
The last few are just for fun of the two tunnel motors.
As you can tell I do light weathering and again the stuff is mostly box stock for now. They will all be improved a lot slowly and carefully. I have some other projects that I want to get started on and as soon as I get all the parts together they will get posted in the "On The Bench" area.
Hope you enjoyed the photos.
Paulie
