Thanks to all for the kind words, they are greatly appreciated! Here’s another pic of 3802 and a lashup of high horsepower 4 axle power doing what it did best in the mid 90’s. For those of you that weren’t lucky enough to get to witness the Santa Fe moving intermodal trains through the open country at high speeds back then – you don’t know what you missed! Quartets of today’s Dash 9’s and GEvo’s may have that cool, low frequency bass rumble but they can’t touch the high pitched, turbo charged whine of some hot rod 4 axle EMD power screaming by!

Got to see the first of these units when they made it to Los Angeles, on my way to the Belmont Shores club. They were really neat to see!!!
Not long after that, when I was back in N.C., Southern's units started showing up in freights on the Salisbury - Asheville line... has always been one of my favorite units.
