Well, I really wanted to originally do one of the BN's ex NP RS1 custom painted. I kind of messed it up so after soaking the loco shell to get the paint off I decided to do another locomotive for my fictitious railroad, Omaha and St. Louis. Here is the made up story behind the locomotive. This was part of the first ever order of locomotives for the O&SL. They placed an order for 17 RS1's numbers 28,29, 45-56. They were delivered in the phase 1 scheme with the full name on the long hood in a small font. By the mid 1980's, which is where I model most of the O&SL fleet, only two remain in service. 28 and 29 are the surviving RS1 while #45-49 sit in deadline at the Omaha Shops for spare parts to keep 28 and 29 running. While 50-56 were scrapped in 1979. Here is the #28 maybe one day I will do its sister unit 29 Enjoy

Nice, I have been hunting for a boozer like this myself, I do like this Alco-Haulic, something about those overhung windows, looks like 28 has quite the Horn pack.

Gee, when I painted River Run RS-1 #26 back in 1994 I never thought it would get a cousin in the same number sequence!

Thanks guys! I just couldn't let this Alco be a clean locomotive. I really love how this RS1 came out. I had to write this unit into the roster because I never intended it to be in there. That is why the number series is chopped up. Hey Randy that is a bit freaky that our RS1's almost look the same. I do have to say that the long hood name spelled out took a long time, each letter was cut out of a micro-scale sheet! On a side note the US Flag and OLS logo are Highball graphic decals. This is my first time using them and I love them. I actually heard about the company on this forum. Most of the other O&SL units have them now too. I also installed a TS A4X decoder in this unit, I think I will be switching for digitrax to TCS from now on.

My letters were cut out of a Microscale Big John hopper decal set. lol Here's unit number 27 in the 2nd paint scheme, I haven't had time to paint the railings yet.

That is a nice scheme. Are the RS1's the older atlas yellow boxes?
I don't know if you can see it that well but I went with adding a gong bell on the side of the step on the conductors side on the short hood.
This is my first Alco unit, they are growing on me ;D

Looks good. I like the canvas cover pulled off the radiator screens, how did you make those?

The canvas covers are in fact masking tape bunch up and a few spots of plastic glue and then dry brushed with dark gray and black pastel chalk.
