I said the same thing when I took the pics, didn't know why they were like that till the Kennecott thread popped up.

they are for high clearence in the copper mines with high cabs and noses that were changed to the low nose you see in the pics they would make a very neat build to do with the release of the new atlas trainman gp39.I plan on doing one as soon as i get my clubs intermodal project out of the way ihave been on that now over 5 months now

Is it just me, or does the top grab in the bottom photo of #2510 look like... I can rest easy if my grabs aren't exactly straight? ;D

It looks like it straight to me as well, but does it stop behind the sand hatch with it at an angle, or does it goes all the way across? Those are beautiful locomotives, I love that color combo.
