After seeing the amazing work from cxst I decide that my 3 Atlas Gensets will get an overhaul ;D I ordered a bunch off parts and today I decide to tackle the first loco. The loco was originally UPY 2707 but has been renumbered to UPY 2702, I added graffiti, but I am not making this prototypical after the real UPY 2702, just believable. Before: After:

Yeah, Atlas didn't do their handrails any justice, there's a big difference when replaced with wire ones.

Hopefully tomorrow I can get to work on these, Football was a big distraction for me on Sundays.

well start back on my first UPY tonight, I managed to complete the 2 long hood sides of the handrails, I am using 0.012" brass. I have never done handrails before, I am happy with the results. Next is to complete the short hood sides before I attempt the anti climbers. Still have other details to add too.

Looking good so far. If you just follow the bends on the original handrails it should be pretty easy to get them all finished..
Keep us posted..

Managed to complete the front handrails, tomorrow I will do that rear. This loco is part of my christmas present, also the detail parts, so I want to complete it before christmas.

getting closer to finishing, just the rear to detail, a light weathering, and modify the exhaust stacks.

Hey that's a nice looking industrial scene you've got there too, can we see more of the layout, or do we need to go to another forum for that, this being about diesels mostly? :-) Nice Genset!

For the handrails, did you drill out the plastic stanchions? only the one I snapped the plastic in, but if you can get the atlas handrails of without breaking them, then you can just put the stanchions straight in. I added a small amount of CA (superglue) to them. I finished the loco, will put up more photos when I finish my first area of back drops so I can have some cool looking shots. Planning on this happening before Christmas.

Did you make anymore progress on the 2702 or your other two units? Other than weathering 2702, it is finished still got to start on the other 2. I have not done any modeling for a while, but it is calling me.
