Howdy, we all know how fast the former shortline soon to be giant conglomerate Genesee & Wyoming is sucking up all the shortlines and regionals in the US, and my fictional shortline has been spared not.
Now, when GWI overtakes a line, older, non-essential units are sold or scrapped, and units from other GWI roads are transferred, temporarily or permanently, to help with power woes.
Huron Central, owned by GWI, has a small fleet of former CN GP40-2Ls, and I'd like to model one, or at least a good representation of one, to serve on the A&W.
Now, I see Randy has quite a collection of the wide cabs, and I was wondering primarily where yours are from? The only experience I've ever had with any Canadian cabs were some somewhat clunky and thick resin castings some umpteen years ago (before the HCRY had the GP40-2ls!) But the ones I've seen in your GP38-2 project look very nice, and appear to be of a thin-wall type design?
With Atlas' GP40-2 out, I planned on using this as a base, but the steps would of course be wrong, and I also see Railflyer has a nice brass set up for these, has anyone grated them onto another frame?
I don't have a fortune to drop on a complete kit or a brass model, so any help for these is much appreciated.
Thanks!

Thanks! That raises another question though. I could only find pictures of DA's 3601 and 3602 cabs, one had 2 windows, the other had 3. The prototype I'm model has 4-windows and no extra side windows: www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=248943&nseq=1Does 3603 have the proper number of windows? My research into its intended usages (BN SD60Ms) indicates no. I'm remotely toying with the idea of dropping $50 on the Railflyer production, form what i've seen it's VERY nice and has prototypical everything for my needs. Upon revie wof the pilot and steps, I've decided I can scratch build some viable stand ins. So if all goes as plan (as it never does) I can still do this for just shy of $200

You want a DA #3604 Canadian Cab. Getting hard to find, don't know why DA quit making them.
