These were the first big GE's to come to Canada and shortly after seeing them, I wanted to model one. This unit is from the second order, the first new units to be delivered in the CN North America or map scheme. (the first order wore stripes) CN was on a full carbody kick with the Draper Taper, a cut-out area behind the cab allowing some rearward visibilty on curves, which was first seen on the MLW HR 616, then SD 50F and SD 60F. This unit is built off an Athearn GE C frame with heavily modified RSD trucks from Atlas/Kato. The inboard axles are non-geared as relocating them did not allow for easy gear relocation. Sideframes were kitbashed from GE dash 7. It is powered by a big Sagami can motor. The carbody is scratchbuilt from styrene with an modified H&D resin cab and griiles are either etched commercial or removed from a RPP 8-32 shell.

Sorry, when I built this (10+ years ago) I wasn't doing resin casting myself yet, and just built a one-off.

That is simply awesome. Much better looking than mine at the moment, which still needs a chassis and trucks and paint and a whole bunch of other things.
