I know the red interior light is to reduce night-blindness, but does anyone know what the red lights near the ditch lights on the CN unit are??

Isn't that a walkway light? Maybe it just looks red from a reflection off the fresh red paint?

That is a red light, one mounted on each end, right on top of the ditch light housing, my guess is that it is for DPU operations. You can clearly see this on the rear end pic.
The walkway light on the rear end pic is hidden behind the stantion, and you can barely see the walkway light on the front end behind the ditchlight.
