While smacking my head or beating a dead horse, I read somewhere on how to add a beacon without adding resistors through the Athearn RTR board. I followed it through, moved the beacon light to the rear light output and left the front headlight alone. Now, there was nothing listed about how to program the CV's and such to get it to work. We use a Digitrax system with DT400R throttles. Basically, just need to know where to go on the DT400, how to get there, and what to change to make it work! Im using an NCE D13SRj 4 function decoder. I see this was just covered, so, hopefully this will also provide another idea for danielsokyrail! Thanks guys! Eric

I believe the info you are looking for is here: tsd.digitrax.com/index.php?a=80according to this, you'll want to set CV50, the rear headlight effect CV, to either 06, for a strobe that flashes when the loco is moving forward, or to 26, for a strobe that flashes regardless of direction. For programming decoders using a DT400 series, you'll do the following: 1. Power up the system. 2. Plug throttle into Loconet. 3. Place loco on programming track. 4. Push the "PROG" button on the left side of the throttle. 5. Turn the left throttle clockwise until the CV# is displayed in the window. (50, in this case) 6. Turn the right throttle clockwise until the number displayed is the one you want to program. (We'll go with 06 in this case) 7. Push the "Enter" key, located down near your zero key. 8. At this point, the system should program the loco decoder and then wait for further instructions. You may hear some clicks from the loco or see the headlight do some flashing. 9. Push "Exit" on the throttle, (down next to the zero key) and you should be returned to the Function screen. If all else fails, unplug and power down your throttle, and then plug it back in. That should put you back to the Function screen on the throttle. 10. At this point, you should be able to move the loco to the main track and fire it up. Run it around and see if it does what you want. If not, follow the directions above and try the other numbers to change the effect being used. Good luck!
