Some of the less salubrious parts of my layout will include the slightly run down industrial area up at the end of Schuyler Street and Water St in Utica, where the old Erie Lackawanna freight warehouse is and an NYS&W yard can be found. As part of that, I'm painting up this old gasoline truck to look like it has been left to rust in a quiet corner of a yard. This has been done with flat humbrol enamels with a bit of drybrushing, but I'll flood some dark watercolour into the recesses and spray it with matt fixer to pick up the detail a bit more. This is a LEGO model and actually a Bedford truck more commonly found outside the US, but it looks 'American' enough to suit the setting. I'm reliably informed that the LEGO range of vehicles had the cars in 1:87 scale and the trucks in 1:90 scale, however, looks close enough to HO scale to suit matters: Al
