So everyone- I don't know if I have to remind anybody here what tomorrow is the anniversary of.....I painted this model to comemorate what happened 9 years ago this week. As some of you know, I served; as did many others on this forum. BN and UP did special military basedpaint schemes during Desert Storm, but I have yet to see the same level of appreciation for the current conflict. POLITICS ASIDE, I'm okay with that, because I have been given the opportunity to create my own special rememberance. The model is an MTH(obviously) and all I did was strip it and repaint. However, the painting WAS the hard part as most of you can imagine! Three layers of frisk tape and 3M(in spots) was enough to drive a man(or woman) batty!! But I knew that if I pulled this off in the first try that I would be sitting pretty........that wasn't the case. All colors were WAY too dark, but I was fortunate enough to 'fade' them white a light 'wash' of Floquil Reefer White; it did the trick. Finally, I hand bent a yellow ribbon out of .010" styrene with brass hooks. Yes, the ribbon is removable. Thanks for looking, and PLEASE remember to thank any service members, vets, fire fighters, police officers, or their family members this week. They could use it. I have more shots on my website www.fourrocksmodelworks.comRick

This is AWESOME. Thank you for serving and thank you for building this in remembrance of all who have. Sometimes I fear that America is starting to forget 9/11 and the memories of that day are beginning to soften and fade away. It's projects like this that bring a tear to my eye remembering all that happened and those whose lives were lost forever, from that day all the way to present day.
Thank you sir. Well played.
Not to mention this is FANTASTIC modeling.

Do you need ho scale velcro for the lettering? Maybe an IR flag on the right side? The engineer can use a paq4 or a peq2 instead of the headlights? OK, now up-armor it(rail roadside IED's an all) Great lookin model!!! Karl

Wow, Impressive. The modern camo actually looks really good on a loco.
That would be cool to see that pulling a train together with the UP Desert Storm loco.

Very nice job on this loco, it looks really cool like that, I got out of the Army just as they were integrating the ACU uniforms, so I didn't have the pleasure of wearing them.
