Diesel modelling is still pretty new to me. I modelled Pre-Gouping (pre-1923) British steam for nearly 20 years, before becoming interested in US outline stuff. My final British layout was (and still is) Hudson Road, a OO scale layout based during the winter of 1917-18, while Britain was still at war. After 'discovering' US modelling in 2003, I decided on a complete change of scenery and built Sweethome Chicago in several phases. I originally based the layout in the 1950s with an obsession for modelling every Railroad that travelled within a mile of Calumet City - I had over 27 different Railroads at the last count, although the Belt Railway of Chicago were well ahead on locos. There were still a number of steamers running on the layout. I then decided to backdate the layout to the 1930s so I could have the excuse to run billboard reefers, which meant adding a new backscene, changing all the advertising hoardings and replacing all the road vehicles and many of the figures. Sweethome Chicago is currently on the exhibition circuit in the UK and gets operated intensively for 2 days, every few months, even though I've been working on the modern layout over the past year. Jon, Clearly you have to much time on your hands.. I'd suggest you find a proper hobby and quit messing around with toy trains, Perhaps Golf? ;D A true admirer of your amazing talent, Paul
