Hi Justin, Here we call them "Tarantula" ;D Honestly I am not sure if they havea nickname here, I always think big head and fat head when I see them, I guess because I love the F units, I always think those CF7s think they are better than my beloved Fs so I think "big head/fathead"

I love those beauties! Gotta credit the Santa Fe, at least they rebuilt them versus scrapping their massive fleet of F-units! Nice work capturing the look of those unique locomotives.

That CF-7 is awesome! Did EMD actually supply Santa Fe with the Geep hoods for these rebuilds?

IIRC, Santa Fe scratch built their own long hoods for the CF-7's, the only exception is the very first unit, ATSF 2649, which received a GP7 long hood that was supposed to be used on a wreck-repair GP7. This is also the only CF-7 with dynamic brakes, or at least the blister is there, not sure if it actually had them operational.

Hey Kiro, my friend is building a ex-Santa Fe CF-7 and wanted me to ask you what you used for your antenna plate on the roof of your model. Thanks Glenn

More info and history on this rebuild program can be found in the book 'From Cleburn to Everywhere'. forgot the authors name for a mo, but google it, look in Amazon, or E-bay. A good chance you can find a copy. By the way, I get the ' Tarantula' nickname. Read this book, and you'll know. ;-)
