Has anyone tried making a phase 3 from a phase 2 Kato NW-2? The real issue is the louvers on the hood of course. Any suggestions on adding louvers?

You coud use Archer Decal louvers if you need to add louvers.

Our friends at Plano also make excellent switcher louvers. I found the spacing between louvers on the Archer decals a little too far apart, however, you can cut and apply each one to correct that (a tad bit tedious, but it can be done).

I never knew Plano had those, I'll have to order some, thanks for that.

I should have mentioned the Plano ones as well. They have both the narrow switcher style in two different groups and also the wider ones as applied to early GPs and SDs. Curt is right the spacing is much better on the Plano etched versions.

I need some louvers for an upcoming slug project, I don't see the louvers listed at Plano, you have a part number?

Pardon my ignorance but how are these applied w/o them "showing"?

Andy, I use Barge cement to attach them. Before I apply the Barge, I run a file over the back side of the metal, trim them close as possible and file a slight taper to the top louver edge to blend them in to the hood.
