Good evening all, Here are some photos of a model that I actually finished back a month ago, just now getting around to posting some photos! After a friend, (ConrailJon) started asking me what a "GP28M" was I decided to model one, boy what a trip it has been! LOL At first glance a GP28M looks kind of like a GP38, however after closer inspection you'll see it is VERY different. In many books you'll find that they claim these where rebuilt from old GP5/9/18's, however, the only part of these that are still somewhat a early Geep is the engine, M-K used the old EMD 567 engine and upgraded it with newer 645-series components and then used a completely redesigned body, mainly the hulks of old GP35's with completely upgraded features. For this model I used a Athearn RTR GP35 for the shell, removed the cab, sub-base, nose and all air intakes, fans, etc, etc. Simply put, everything from the cab forward and above the pinstripe has been replaced with Cannon components. The dynamic brake section is also completely rebuilt to match the prototype. I decided to model 1510 as it was the only one in the Operation lifesaver "THINK... Before You Cross!" scheme that I've seen while out fanning. It's a really eye-catching paint job! Five locomotives where painted this way, BN 1510, 21,22,23 and 24. Model is equipped with operating pilot mounted Strobe Flashers as well has headlights. Thanks for looking!

You have done a great job. I remember seeing those quite often around here. I also remember 1506 having a red and white plow for a while after being on the Christmas train.

Hey guys, thanks for all the nice comments...I absolutely love this model!
@ Andrew: it is VERY lightly weathered, I only weathered the trucks, fuel tank and front/rear pilot as 1510 was painted in this scheme around (iirc) 1994 and that is toward the very end of my modeling era, so I wanted to model her as if she was recently released from the paint shop!
@sp4801: I'm sorry about the mis-wording, you did a far better job describing what they did. Also, from what I can find, the hoods, etc. for the M-K GP28M's are old GP35 hulks that Morrison-Knudsen had laying around, from that they rebuilt the new body style, basically up to GP38-2 standards.

Great Job on your GP28M. That makes two of them here on the DD. You can run her with mine any day.

This engine called out to be modeled since I first saw it. I'm glad to see it done and done really well. Its only a someday engine for me. Very well modeled Andrew.
