Hi All- I have a Santa Fe 8-40BW that I moved the jumper to DCC and my headlight is if-y at best. What gives? Is it just a crappy half-a** design issue? Just curious, as I plan on putting in a Tsunami down the road.....just not immediately, and was hoping to run the unit in the lead. It just isn't right without the headlight.
Thanks in advance, Rick

Depends on the run, but it seems like some of these decoders have a lesser output to the bulb than what they do in DC mode. I measured one, and it didn't show it, but you could see the difference between modes on the bulb.
Is it ultra dim? Or does it not even light now?
My best advice, if you want to keep the decoder for a time longer, then you need to measure the output and put a 16v/14v/12v bulb in there. Model Power makes the best bulbs in my opinion and I've used them for years! YES, MODEL POWER. Look in the walthers cat. and find them. My shop started stocking them after he saw how well they work and now everyone around here uses them.

Thanks guys. I had a feeling it could be the connections, since it'll randomly turn on(nice and bright), but then nothing for an hour or so, then on again. I'll probably end up just buying a Tsunami sooner than later, as I run it frequently at the club. And, since I will need to open her up for inspiction, I might as well put in the sound board and speaker enclosure.
Thanks again,
Rick

Put a Railmaster Hobbies bass reflex speaker in, you will be happy going that route.
Everyone up here uses them exclusively.
